Sewing friends! Many of you who receive our newsle Sewing friends! Many of you who receive our newsletter already know that Sew for Life is taking a break for the remainder of this year. We’ve had a super busy 7 years and have enjoyed every minute of sharing our passion for sewing with you, but it’s time for a break for myself and our lovely teachers.

Craig, myself and the boys are heading on an eastern states adventure later this year so if you’re keen to see what we get up to, feel free to follow along @teamwilliams.adventures 🏕

Otherwise, stay safe and healthy and we hope to see you all again soon!

Whether you’re a beginner or you’ve been sewin Whether you’re a beginner or you’ve been sewing for years, there is always something to learn from looking at your sewing machine manual 👀

I recently learned my machine has a special stabilising plate that attaches when sewing buttonholes. It helps prevent the stitches bunching up and premature u-turns (you’ll know what I mean if it’s happened to you!) 🤦‍♀️

What new thing have you learned about your machine recently?
Has anyone else been making masks this week? 😷 Has anyone else been making masks this week? 😷

This is my absolute favourite design for masks and it’s a freebie! Just search 3D face mask by @japanesesewingbooks. There’s even a video tutorial to show you how to put it together 🤗

It’s pretty simple and if you’ve done our Sew from Scratch beginners course then you definitely have the skills to make these up no problems! 👌

For those still keen to join us in the first half of 2022, we have just 4 spots left in our Tuesday morning class starting next week. We’d love to have you join us!
{Last chance spots!} In our email newsletter this {Last chance spots!}
In our email newsletter this week I announced that we’re going to take a little break in Term 2 in anticipation of COVID-related disruptions 😷

The good news is that we still have a handful of places left in our Tuesday morning (places still available) and Monday evening (Edit: now fully booked) groups starting in February if you’d like to join us.

Here are a few pics of some of our happy students making their zippered cushion covers in their second lesson. Didn’t they do an amazing job?! 😍

Follow the link in the bio through to the Sew from Scratch Beginners Course to join us 🤗
Classes start back this week and there’s just ON Classes start back this week and there’s just ONE SPOT left in our Thursday evening beginners course. (EDIT: now sold out)

This is your final chance to join us this year so don’t hesitate to go and grab that place ASAP 🏃‍♀️

What do you think of these gorgeous smiling faces from some of our beginners from last term? From never sewing a stitch to making a stunning pair of trousers complete WITH POCKETS in only 6 lessons 💪

Come and learn with our qualified and experienced teachers and you’ll be smashing your sewing goals before summer!
This is wisdom I share with as many of our beginne This is wisdom I share with as many of our beginners students as possible! 😂 Often, once people find out you sew, or are learning, they see this as the perfect opportunity to pass on all their mending projects. Ummmmm… 🙅‍♀️ is the correct response! 😂

I know some people enjoy it, but mending definitely isn’t one of my fave jobs. Swipe across to see a couple of my recent attempts 👉

The first one (Paw Patrol PJs) I tried to reinforce a knee that was thinning out just to make it through til the end of the cooler weather before I ditch them or need to buy another pair. As you can see, unfortunately I didn’t see high enough as they’ve worn just above where I stopped. You can see the interfacing I fused underneath poking through. Oh well 🤷‍♀️

The second one is a pair of track pants that were practically brand new that my eldest ripped a hole in. I was so annoyed! It’s not the neatest job as I was too lazy to unpick the side seams so had to sew in through the waist which was tricky. It did the job though and I’m pretty happy. They’re only track pants and the boys just get messy anyway so I don’t care that it’s not perfect 💁‍♀️

Have you done any mending recently? Let me know if you have any tricks! 🪡
{WOOD BLOCK PRINTING} Last weekend I was lucky en {WOOD BLOCK PRINTING}

Last weekend I was lucky enough to join the @mount_hawthorn_sewcialists for a Wood Block Printing demonstration with the lovely Liz from @wovenstoriestextiles. I’ve been following Liz since she opened her Myaree store about 3 years ago but haven’t had the opportunity to meet her in person til now. Let me tell you, she is as delightful in person as her entertaining Instagram posts suggest! 😃

Last Saturday she joined us at our monthly Sewcialists meet and fascinated us all with the craft of woodblock printing. I even had the opportunity to make my own piece and it was so fun!!

Of course there was some gorgeous fabric on offer too so I couldn’t resist a few pieces. If you’re interested in giving this a go yourself, get in touch with Liz as she’ll put a workshop together if enough people are keen.
It’s on again THIS SATURDAY!! Our Necessary Clut It’s on again THIS SATURDAY!! Our Necessary Clutch Workshop has just one spot left for this Saturday’s full day workshop.

Learn to make this gorgeous purse from scratch along with all the tips and tricks from our experienced teacher Lauren 💁‍♀️🪡

Just bring along your fabric and you’re ready to go!
